A=COM <br /> • Seat belts shall be maintained in functional condition, and replaced when necessary to ensure <br /> proper performance. <br /> 4.5.9 All vehicles transporting material or equipment on public roads shall comply with local laws <br /> pertaining to weight, height, length, and width. Obtain any permits required for these loads. <br /> 4.5.10 Never jump on to or off of a piece of heavy equipment, always maintain 3-points of contact at a <br /> minimum. <br /> 4.5.11 Never exit heavy equipment while it is in motion. <br /> 4.5.12 Do not ride with arms or legs outside of the truck body of equipment cab. <br /> • Never ride on the outside of a piece of heavy equipment(e.g. in a standing position on the <br /> body, on running boards, or seated on side fenders, cabs, cab shields, rear of truck bed, on <br /> the load, bucket, etc.). <br /> 4.5.13 Have vehicle headlights on at all times when driving in the area. <br /> 4.5.14 Park motor vehicles off the haul roads, or away from the work areas. <br /> 4.5.15 Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry where there is a danger of entanglement in rotating <br /> equipment. <br /> 4.5.16 Do not enter the swing area of machines such as cranes, heavy drill rigs, or excavators,without <br /> first making eye contact with the operator, and receiving permission to do so. Refer to S3AM-309- <br /> ATT2 Operator Line of Sight. <br /> 4.5.17 Stay out of the blind areas around heavy equipment and never assume that the equipment <br /> operators have seen you or are aware of your presence. <br /> 4.5.18 Maintain a distance of at least 2 feet (60 centimeters) between the counterweight of swing <br /> machines and the nearest obstacle. If this distance cannot be maintained, a spotter shall observe <br /> and be in constant communication with the operator to prevent contact. <br /> 4.5.19 Vibrations from moving traffic or heavy equipment can cause excavations or spoil piles to become <br /> unstable. <br /> • Excavation activity shall be conducted according to SOP S3AM-303-PR1 Excavation. <br /> • Equipment not involved in the excavating activity or not required to be in the vicinity shall keep <br /> clear. Equipment that shall operate in the vicinity shall maintain appropriate setback distances <br /> from edges of excavations or spoil piles. <br /> 4.5.20 All heavy equipment shall be operated in a safe manner that will not endanger persons or property. <br /> • When ascending or descending grades in excess of 5 percent, loaded equipment shall be <br /> driven with the load upgrade. <br /> • When operating an electric-powered, remote controlled, hydraulic device used for demolishing <br /> concrete structures and refractory linings as well as excavating, refer to the S3AM-309-ATT1 <br /> Brokk 180 for more specifics. <br /> 4.5.21 All heavy equipment shall be operated at safe speeds. Do not drive any vehicle at a speed greater <br /> than is reasonable and safe for weather conditions, traffic, intersections,width, and character of the <br /> roadway, type of motor vehicles, and any other existing condition. <br /> 4.5.22 Always move heavy equipment up and down the face of a slope.
