MARIPOSA ROAD,
STOCKTON, SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, CASE#392007
Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (Central Valley Water Board) staff has
reviewed the Site Assessment Work Plan(Work Plan) dated 18 April 2019, submitted on your
behalf by Wayne Perry Inc. (WPI)for the Sanguinetti Property unauthorized petroleum release
at 2085 E. Mariposa Road in Stockton (Site).
In the Work Plan, WPI proposes to advance three cone penetration test borings (CPT-1 through
CPT-3) in the vicinity of previous boring B4, as summarized below.
Location Total Soil Sampling Groundwater Sampling
CPT
Boring Relative Depth Depth Analysis Depth Analysis
to B4
ftb s ftb s ftb s
1 Z25ft SE 5ft intervals TPHg,TPHd, BTEX, TPHg, TPHd, BTEX,
2 -25ft W 50 from 5ft to fuel oxygenates 45-50 fuel oxygenates
3 -25ft N Total De th
TPHg=total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline;TPHd=TPH as diesel;BTEX=benzene,toluene,ethylbenzene,xylenes;
ft=feet;bgs=below ground surface
As all soil samples collected from previous borings B1, B2, B3, and B5 were near or below
reporting limits for all analyzed petroleum constituents, the proposed locations around B4 is
appropriate. Additionally, the proposed depths of soil and groundwater sampling appear
appropriate for lateral and vertical delineation of impact to soil and for initial groundwater
assessment. As such, Central Valley Water Board staff concurs with the scope of work as
proposed. However, the proposed total depth of 50 feet is based on recent depth to
groundwater data from the neighboring USA#110 case. In the event that Site groundwater is
deeper than anticipated, each boring should be advanced until groundwater is encountered and
can be sampled.
By 26 July 2019, please submit a Site Assessment Report which details the completion of the
above discussed scope of work and the resultant findings. In the Report, please also identify
any remaining data gaps in relation to the State Water Resources Control Board's Low Threat
Underground Storage Tank Case Closure Policy(LTCP), and provide recommendations for a
scope of work to address any identified gaps.
Wmr E.
