Box 127
Linden, CA 95236
REQUEST TO COMPLETE PROPOSED MONITORING WELL INSTALLTIONS,
ANDERSON-BARN GROVER RANCH, 14290 EAST COMSTOCK ROAD, LINDEN, SAN
JOAQUIN COUNTY; CASE #392009, GLOBAL ID #T10000020864
Central Valley Water Board staff reviewed the Work Plan for Installation of Groundwater
Monitoring Wells (Work Plan), dated 20 December 2023. Brusca Associates Inc. (Brusca)
submitted this document on your behalf for the Anderson-Barngrover Ranch petroleum
underground storage tank (UST) release case at 14290 East Comstock Road in Linden
(Site). In the Work Plan, Brucsa proposes to install three groundwater monitoring wells to
(1) define the extent of the plume to the east, (2) determine groundwater flow direction, (3)
attempt to measure light non-aqueous phase liquid (LNAPL), and (4) evaluate plume
stability. The proposed well installations are summarized in the table below.
Depth to
Screen Sand Bentonite Water in
Well Location Casing Interval Interval Interval Previous
(ft bgs) (ft bgs) (ft bgs) Borings
(ft bgs)
MW-1 Near TH5
UST Area
Near TH9 2 inch 64-74
(Max grab PVC; 0.020 60-80 58-80 56-58
MW-2 groundwater inch slots (Avg 69.3)
concentrations)
MW-3 West of TH10
Brusca proposes to develop the wells no less than 72 hours after installation, and perform
initial sampling no less than 24 hours after development. Brusca proposes to gauge the
wells with an interface probe to allow for measurement of any LNAPL present.
Central Valley Water Board staff concurs with the proposed scope of work. The proposed
borings appear sufficient to provide repeatable sampling points in the areas of the former
UST and highest grab groundwater concentrations, and to define the plume to the west.
Additionally, the proposed screen interval appears appropriate given depth to water in the
previous borings. By 19 April 2024, please complete the proposed scope of work and
MARK BRADFORD, CHAIR I PATRICK PULUPA, EsQ., EXECUTIVE OFFICER
11020 Sun Center Drive#200, Rancho Cordova, CA 95670 1 www.waterboards.ca.gov/centralvalley
