(bgs)as part of the evaluation. Soil from the borings will be collected on a continuous basis during
probing using 4-foot-long stainless steel samplers containing acetate liners. Soil samples will be
field screened using the headspace method for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) using a
photoionization detector(PID). Atlas will record the PID measurements on boring logs, along with
soil descriptions per the Universal Soil Classifications System (USCS). Groundwater is not
expected to be encountered during boring activities. The proposed soil boring locations are shown
on Figure 2.
Soil samples will be collected for field characterization from depths of 4, 8, 12, 16, and 20 feet
bgs. Atlas will submit two soil samples from each of the borings for chemical analysis. The
selected samples will be submitted of the basis of PID readings, color, and odor. Following soil
sample collection, the borings will be filled to grade with neat cement grout, in accordance with
State of California regulations.
Waste material generated during the soil sampling activities will be placed in a 55-gallon drum(s)
and temporarily stored on site. The drums of waste materials will subsequently be removed and
transported to an appropriate waste disposal facility by a licensed waste transporter.
3.3 Laboratory Analysis
Soil samples will be labeled with a unique identification, placed in a cooler on ice, and transported
to a laboratory using chain-of-custody controls. Soil samples will be submitted to a California
certified laboratory for analysis for total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) as hydraulic or motor oil
per United States Environmental Protection Agency 9EPA) Method 8015M, and for
polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) per EPA Method 8082. All twelve samples will be submitted for
the full suite of analyses.
4. REPORTING
Following the completion of fieldwork, Atlas will prepare a report that will include a description of
the field activities for submittal to San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department, as
appropriate or required by permit conditions
The work described in this proposal will be performed under the direction of a California
Profession Engineer or California Professional Geologist.
5. SCHEDULE
Along with this work plan, Atlas has submitted boring permits applications to implement the scope
of work. A report summarizing the work will be submitted approximately four week following
receipt of the sampling analytical results.
6. LIMITATIONS
Our professional services have been performed, our findings obtained, and our recommendations
prepared in accordance with customary principles and practices in the fields of environmental
science and engineering. This warranty is in lieu of all other warranties either expressed or
