Stockton Propeller Sampling and Analysis Plan
3.5 Soil Boring Decommissioning
Soil borings will be abandoned consistent with requirements of the SJCEHD using the San Joaquin
County Well Standards (San Joaquin County Ordinance Code Section 9-1115.6, February 2005).
Prior to abandonment, appropriate permits will be obtained from SJCEHD. Each boring will then be
completely grouted with appropriate sealing material such as a mixture of Portland cement, water, and
less than 5-percent of bentonite powder. The top 3 feet of the boring may be backfilled and compacted
with clean, uncontaminated fill material. Each boring will be filled by use of a tremie pipe or equivalent,
proceeding upward from the bottom of the boring. Sealing materials will be placed in one continuous
operation and pressure required for the placement of sealing material will be maintained long enough
for sealing materials to properly set. Verification that adequate decommissioning will be accomplished
by scheduling an inspection with a SJCEHD representative.
3.6 Groundwater Well Installation
To assess the depth to groundwater and gradient in the vicinity of the site, and to inform groundwater
well location and construction, GeoTracker was queried for well sites in the vicinity of SPI.A summary of
the relevant groundwater information for wells in the vicinity of the SPI facility is given in Table 4.
Blankinship&Associates, Inc.
