Stockton Propeller, Inc., OCI Case #15242
Date Samples Collected: June 3, 2021
Lew collected the sample from the bucket, with a new plastic scoop into a new, clean, clear 32-
ounce glass jar and closed the lid. Friend then placed a label on the jar along with evidence tape
on the lid. Salas photographed the sample near where it was collected (Attachment 2.
Photographic Log, Photos IMG 4415 to 4419; 4432).
Sample SP-08:
The sample was collected in the "Cleaning Room" from the filter compartment at the base of the
unlabeled cleaning machine at the far right of the room (Attachment 1: Site and Sample Maps).
The cleaning machine cleaned plane parts by using various grit blasted at the plane parts. As
with Samples SP-07 and SP-09, M. Belmont stated that all of the material from the filter
compartments were discarded as a waste into the trash up until the May CUPA site visit. The
contents of the filter compartment were a light grey, extremely fine powder, solid material. Myers
noted the MultiRAE detected low levels of VOCs in the "Cleaning Room".
Lew collected the sample from the filter compartment, with a new plastic scoop into a new, clean,
clear 32-ounce glass jar and closed the lid. As
with Samples SP-07 and SP-08, M. Belmont stated that all of the material from the filter
compartments were discarded as a waste into the trash up until the May CUPA site visit. The
contents of the filter compartment were a light grey, coarse powder, solid material. Myers noted
the MultiRAE detected low levels of VOCs in the "Cleaning Room".
Lew collected the sample from the filter compartment, with a new plastic scoop into a new, clean,
clear 32-ounce glass jar and closed the lid. Salas photographed the sample near where it was collected
(Attachment 2: Photographic Log, Photos IMG-4426 to 4431).
Sample SP-10AIB:
The samples were collected in the "Inspection Room" underneath the sink from a seven-gallon
holding container (Attachment 1: Site and Sample Maps). The holding container contained the
rinse water from the inspection process. Staff from Stockton Propeller check the plane parts for
cracks and deformities by dipping the part into a chemical solution called Ardrox. After dipping
the plane part in Ardrox they then rinse the chemical solution with water and keep the rinse water
and solution in a holding container until the container is full or considered too concentrated to
rinse any more. Previously, they had been disposing of this wastewater into the onsite septic
tank. The holding container was first tested with pH paper (pH 4.0) before sampling.
Lew collected the samples from the holding container using a new, clean, clear 16-ounce jar and
transferring the samples into a new, clean, clear 32-ounce glass jar and a new, clean, amber 16-
ounce glass jar and closed each lid. The samples collected were a clear yellowish liquid. Friend
then placed labels on each jar along with evidence tape on the individual lids. Salas
photographed the samples near where they were collected (Attachment 2: Photographic Log,
Photos IMG-4436 to 4441).
Page: 7
