C <br /> �1m Job Safety Analysis <br /> sis <br /> E N O I N E E R I N 6 <br /> Field Work <br /> JOB SAFETY ANALYSIS JOB TITLE: Field Work <br /> PREPARED BY: Anne Ritcey DATE: July 10, 2018 <br /> JOB STEPS POTENTIAL HAZARDS RECOMMENDED CONTROLS <br /> Driving to/from site Vehicle collisions All drivers must be licensed for the vehicles they <br /> operate. Always wear seat belts. Drive defensively <br /> and follow traffic laws. The use of cell phones or <br /> other two-way communication devices while driving <br /> is prohibited. <br /> Sample collection Exposure to contamination Avoid unnecessary contact with contaminated <br /> materials. When sampling, minimize exposure by <br /> minimizing disturbance of contaminated materials. <br /> Use wet methods (where appropriate for media and <br /> sample method)to prevent dust generation. Wear <br /> adequate PPE, such as appropriate clothing, latex <br /> and/or chemical-resistant gloves, respirators (if <br /> needed) and eye protection. Follow HSP-1 (PPE) <br /> and HSP-2 (Resp. Pro.) as required. <br /> Hand Auguering Use adequate PPE. Wear gloves. Rest to avoid <br /> repetitive stress injuries. Monitor for heat stress. <br /> Contact with chemical Wear appropriate PPE such as safety glasses or <br /> preservatives goggles and chemically resistant gloves when <br /> handling sample containers that contain chemical <br /> preservatives per HSP-1. Close all sample <br /> containers tightly and place in adequate packaging <br /> for transport. <br /> General hazards Slips, trips, and falls. Wear skid-resistant soles and steel-toe shoes or <br /> boots. Be aware of surroundings, including unstable <br /> ground/surfaces, construction debris, etc.). Take <br /> extra precautions when wearing PPE. <br /> Biological Remain alert to the presence of insects and animals. <br /> If bitten by insect or animal, immediately seek <br /> medical attention. Persons susceptible anaphylactic <br /> shock from allergic reactions should carry an <br /> epinephrine pen with them at all times; and should <br /> notify coworkers and SSHO of the location of pen. <br /> CDIM 1 <br />
