•�®�► Job Safety Analysis <br /> Hazardous Materials Handling <br /> JOB SAFETY ANALYSIS JOB TITLE: Hazardous Materials Handling <br /> PREPARED BY: Anne Ritcey DATE: July 17, 2019 <br /> JOB STEPS POTENTIAL HAZARDS RECOMMENDED CONTROLS <br /> Biological Remain alert to the presence of insects, snakes and <br /> other animals. If bitten by insect or animal, <br /> immediately seek medical attention. Persons <br /> susceptible anaphylactic shock from allergic <br /> reactions should carry an epinephrine pen with them <br /> at all times; and should notify coworkers and SSHO <br /> of the location of pen. <br /> Use appropriate respirator protection when working <br /> in poorly ventilated areas where animals such as <br /> rats or mice may be present; these animals may <br /> transmit viruses. <br /> Excessive noise Use hearing protection as needed. <br /> Vehicle and equipment Be aware of surroundings. Wear high visibility vest <br /> traffic and maintain a safe distance from <br /> vehicles/equipment while operating. <br /> Electrical hazards Inspect all electrical equipment and power cords <br /> prior to use. Remove any damaged equipment or <br /> cords from use. Utilize GFCls when using electric <br /> powered equipment and tools. <br /> Weather-related hazards Wear appropriate clothing for weather, including rain <br /> gear and slip-resistant footwear during storm events. <br /> Monitor for heat and cold stress, especially when <br /> wearing PPE. <br /> Decontamination Exposure to contamination Wear adequate PPE, such as appropriate clothing, <br /> latex and/or chemical-resistant gloves, respirators (if <br /> needed) and eye protection. Follow HSP-1 (PPE) <br /> and HSP-2 (Resp. Pro.) as required. <br /> CDIM 2 <br />
