Cold Weather Warm-up Break Schedule <br /> Air Temperature (0F) Low or No Wind 10 mph Wind 20 mph Wind <br /> -15 to -24 Normal Breaks 55 Minutes 30 Minutes <br /> -25 to -34 55 Minutes 30 Minutes Cease Work <br /> -35 to -44 30 Minutes Cease Work <br /> -45 and below Cease Work <br /> 5.0 TRAINING <br /> 5.1 Training Requirements <br /> Training will be provided to employees and supervisors/foremen on the following: <br /> • The prevention of heat illnesses, including control of workloads, environmental risk factors, and <br /> wearing of PPE. <br /> • The importance acclimatization. <br /> • The importance of drinking at least a quart of water per hour when it is hot. <br /> • The signs and symptoms of heat illnesses. <br /> • Company procedures if an employee believes they have a heat illness, and the importance of <br /> reporting any potential heat illnesses to the employer, and the procedures for treatment of heat <br /> illnesses. <br /> • Supervisors and foremen will receive additional training in the proper procedures to monitor heat <br /> indexes and weather reports. <br /> • Supervisors and foremen will also be trained in the proper response to accessing medical <br /> treatment for serious heat illnesses. <br /> 6.0 RECORDKEEPING <br /> All records generated to comply with this HSP will be maintained in accordance with the CDIM record <br /> retention policy or applicable laws and regulations; whichever require a longer retention period. All <br /> physiological monitoring forms and any related heat exposure records will be maintained for the duration <br /> of employment plus thirty years. <br /> Page 9 of 9 <br />
