Existing and Proposed Septic Tank Usage <br /> Existing Septic System <br /> A septic system is currently located on the Site to serve the existing house (Plates 2 <br /> and 3). <br /> Proposed Septic System <br /> A new septic system will be constructed for the proposed new home (Plate 2). <br /> On-Site Septic Permit History <br /> The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department septic permit files were <br /> searched for the Site address; one permit was identified. The permit, dated March <br /> 1959, was for a new residential septic system utilizing an 800-gallon septic tank and two <br /> 60-foot leach lines. It has been included in Appendix 4 of this report. <br /> Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity <br /> To estimate the septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic systems that <br /> exist within approximately one square mile surrounding the property. Air photo imagery <br /> from Google Earth was used, as well as municipal sewer districts presented on the San <br /> Joaquin County District Viewer. Each building cluster on the photo not located within a <br /> known sewer district was assumed to have one septic system. Using this method, it is <br /> estimated that at least 72 septic systems per square mile are located in the immediate <br /> vicinity of the Site. <br /> The Site is located in a small rural residential neighborhood located within a larger <br /> residential subdivision; most of the subdivision receives municipal services. To the <br /> south is a former gravel pit. <br /> Septic Permit History in the Vicinity <br /> Based on a review of septic permits on file at the San Joaquin County Environmental <br /> Health Department for nearby properties, most septic systems in the area utilize leach <br /> lines or leach lines with sumps; one permit indicated a filter bed system. The septic <br /> permits can be found in Appendix 4 of this report. <br /> Expected On-Site Maximum Septic Tank Usage <br /> Maximum expected usage on the Site would be from the current and future residents of <br /> the Site. The new septic system design should be based on the San Joaquin County <br /> LOGE 2610 Page 2 <br />
