Phase II Sampling and Analysis Plan SOP-4 Sample Packing and Shipping ��� <br /> Port of Stockton-Rail and Bridge,Stockton,CA <br /> STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE 4 - Sample Handling, Packing & Shipping <br /> Checklist <br /> When preparing samples for shipment to the laboratory, complete this checklist to ensure that samples, <br /> documents, and materials are properly packed in the sample shipper. <br /> Sample Event: <br /> Date: <br /> PROJECT SAMPLES <br /> ❑ All samples, duplicates, MS/MSDs, equipment blanks, ambient blanks, and trip blanks should be <br /> included in the cooler that are listed on the COC. <br /> ❑ Verify that the proper number of bottles with appropriate preservative(s)were collected for each sample <br /> ❑ Verify that samples were checked for pH (except volatile samples) <br /> DOCUMENTS <br /> ❑ Chain-of-Custody (COC) generated for each cooler <br /> ❑ COC reviewed for completeness, including appropriate signature(s) and date(s), and include the <br /> courier tracking/shipping number on the COC <br /> ❑ COC placed in a zip-lock bag and taped to the underside of the cooler lid <br /> ❑ Custody seals placed on the front and back of each cooler, or across the sealing tape for Summa <br /> canister cartons. <br /> ❑ Coolers for Saturday delivery have "Saturday Delivery" stickers and "Saturday Delivery" box checked on <br /> the airbill <br /> ❑ Shipments are insured <br /> PACKING MATERIALS <br /> ❑ Ice is "double-bagged" and is sufficient to maintain a temperature of 40C <br /> ❑ Glass bottles placed in a bubble bag to prevent breakage and leakage <br /> ❑ All coolers have a bottom cushion in place prior to placing samples in the cooler <br /> ❑ Highly contaminated samples (if known) placed together <br /> ❑ Trip blank placed in each cooler that contains samples for VOC analyses at beginning of day <br /> ❑All VOC samples placed in same cooler to minimize the number of trip blanks <br /> ❑All PFAS samples are placed in a separate cooler to minimize the potential of cross contamination <br /> ❑ Each cooler shipped to the laboratory contains a temperature blank <br /> Comments: (special handling or delivery requirements, highly contaminated samples, etc.) <br /> Number of coolers shipped: <br /> Checklist Completed By: Date: <br /> 1-1 <br />
