SOIL SUITABILITY STUDY
Introduction
Live Oak GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (Live Oak) was contracted by Octavio Medina to
conduct a Soil Suitability Study and Nitrate Loading Study for Pham Thuy Van Thi's
property located at 4440 East Cherokee Road, Stockton, California (Plate 1).
The Soil Suitability Study and Nitrate Loading Study are combined under this report
cover and presented as two sections of this report. The formatting of the report has
been designed to follow the recommendations of the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department as described in its Soil Suitability Study
Requirements Checklist and Nitrate Loading Study Requirements Checklist.
The Soil Suitability Study and Nitrate Loading Study were conducted to determine
whether the soils are suitable for use with a septic system, as well as to estimate if the
use of septic systems will impact ground water quality. The study was performed
according to the requirements of Section 9-604.010(d) of the San Joaquin County
Development code.
Proposed Development
The owner is planning to construct a two-bedroom accessory dwelling unit (ADU) on the
Site (Plate 2).
Site Description
The Site is defined as Assessor's Parcel Number (APN) 087-090-02, 0.6 acre in size. It
is located at 4440 East Cherokee Road, Stockton, California. A house and accessory
building are located on the Site; the remainder of the parcel is open or landscaped
(Plate 3). A domestic well supplies water to the Site.
The elevation of the Site, according to a United States Geological Survey topographic
map, is approximately 32 feet above mean sea level. The Site is relatively flat (Plate 4).
According to the San Joaquin County District Viewer (sjmap.org), the Site is zoned R-L,
Low Density Residential. The San Joaquin County Community Development
Department states that this zoning designation "is intended to provide for
neighborhoods consisting of detached, single family residences located within or
immediately adjacent to population centers which have public services."
LOGE 2620 Page 1
