The SSNLS does not support the suitability for standard OWTS usage pursuant to San Joaquin County
Ordinance Code Title 9-604.010 (d). The nitrate-loading estimate for the existing four-bedroom home
and proposed three-bedroom home OWTS is 12.1 milligrams per Liter (mg/L) of NO3-N (Nitrate as
Nitrogen). The maximum contamination level for NO3-N in groundwater is 10.0 (mg/L) set by the Central
Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board. As a result, an oversized (2,000-gallon) septic tank will be
required to mitigate the excess nitrate level.
2. The Percolation test conducted on April 13, 2026, yielded percolation rate of 1.54 min/inch. At this rate,
a minimum 20 feet of soil separation is required between bottom of the dispersal field and the
groundwater. The SSNL reports groundwater level at 58 feet below surface grade. (San Joaquin County
OWTS Standard Table 1.10.2).
If you have any questions, please contact Rena' LeRoy, Registered Environmental Health Specialist, at
rleroy@sjgov.org or (209) 616-3021.
Steven Shih, REHSJsr
Program Coordinator
CC: Christine Anderson
20295 S Van Allen Rd
Escalon, CA 95320
1868 E.
