AECOM <br /> SOP 501 - Sub-Slab Soil-Gas Sampling <br /> 1 PURPOSE AND SCOPE <br /> The purpose of this Standard Operating Procedures(SOP)is to define the standard procedure SOP and necessary <br /> equipment for sub-slab soil-gas sampling with canisters using stainless steel canisters.This SOP serves as a supplement to <br /> information which might be in a project Work Plan and is intended to be used together with other SOPs. <br /> 2 EQUIPMENT <br /> The following equipment is typically needed. <br /> 2.1 PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT(PPE) <br /> • Leather gloves <br /> • Disposable nitrile gloves <br /> • Cut resistant gloves <br /> 2.2 INSTRUMENTATION AND SAMPLING <br /> • Watch or timer <br /> • Calculator <br /> • Rotameter or equivalent <br /> • Bios Dry Cal flow meter or equivalent device <br /> • Measuring tape <br /> 2.2.1 Real Time <br /> • Photoionization Detector(PID)(e.g., RAE Instruments MultiRAE 3000 or equivalent) <br /> • Flame Ionization Detector(FID)(e.g.,Thermo Scientific TVA-2020/TVA 1000 or equivalent) <br /> • Lower Explosive Limit(LEL)meter(e.g., RAE Instruments MultiRAE, QRAE 11,or equivalent) <br /> • Landfill gas detector(e.g., Landtec GEM-2000 or equivalent) <br /> • Hydrogen gas <br /> • Calibration gas <br /> 2.2.2 Summa Canisters <br /> • Stainless steel Summa TM canisters with flow controllers (supplied by the laboratory) <br /> 2.3 DECONTAMINATION EQUIPMENT <br /> • Paper towels or Kim wipes <br /> • Potable water <br /> • Deionized water <br /> • Spray bottle for deionized water <br /> • Phosphate free detergent <br /> • Scrubbing brush <br /> • Solid waste bags <br /> • Shop vacuum <br /> 2.4 INSTALLATION <br /> • Charcoal filter <br /> • 15 mL hand pump; or <br /> • 60 mL syringe or equivalent <br /> • Vapor Pin® sampling device <br /> • Vapor Pin® sleeve <br /> • Vapor Pin®flush mount cap <br /> • Installation tool <br /> • Dead blow hammer <br /> • Bentonite grout <br /> • Foam padding for shroud-ground seal <br /> • Quikrete® concrete crack sealer(141b bottle) <br /> • Concrete trowel <br /> • Modeling clay <br /> n--- � ..r <br />
