Workplan for PFAS Sampling and Analysis Project Number:60657245
3.2.1 Sample Identification
Sample designation is a unique number that identifies each sample under the analytical program. Immediately upon
collection, each sample will be labeled with an adhesive label. Each sample label will include the sample ID, location
ID, sample date and time of collection, sampler initials, and requested analysis.
The following nomenclature will be used to identify each sample:
Facility ID: Stockton Terminal(e.g., ST)
Location ID: Well Name (e.g., PMW-41), Sample Port (e.g., Influent01), Boring Location (e.g., SB01),
Surficial Soil(e.g. SS01), orStormwater/Industrial Outfall (e.g.,OutfaII001)
Location ID: Location ID-Date and Time(e.g. PMW-41-102021 (PMW-41 sampled on October 20, 2021
at 8:OOAM))
Field duplicate: Sample ID followed by"FD"(e.g., PMW-41-1020210-FD)
Equipment Blank: "EB"followed by sample num er"01" and sampling "date" (e.g., EB01-102021) where V"
starts at 01 and represents the chronological order.A description of the sampling equipment
should be provided in the comments section of the Chain of Custody(COC) Record form.
Field Blank: "FB"followed by sample number"01" and sampling "date" (e.g., FB01-102021) where V"
starts at 01 and represents the sample chronological order.
3.2.2 Sample Handling
Field samples will be placed in a cooler chilled to 4 degrees Celsius(°C)for preservation and transport to the laboratory.
A signed chain-of-custody(COC) record of all samples in the cooler will be enclosed in the cooler and secured to the
inside of the cooler's top lid. A separate COC record form will be prepared for each cooler. Packed sample coolers will
be relinquished at the Site to a designated lab courier for same day transport to the analytical laboratory.
3.3 Investigation-Derived Waste (IDW)
Purge and decontamination water generated during the sampling event will be collected and temporarily stored on Site
in appropriately labeled Department of Transportation approved 55-gallon drums prior to recycling/disposal at an
approved facility. Proper management, handling and disposal of well purge water will be conducted in accordance with
applicable Federal, state and local requirements after analytical results are obtained from the laboratory.
Prepared for:Tesoro Logistics Operations LLC AECOM
9
