The SSNLS does not support the suitability for standard OWTS usage pursuant to San Joaquin County
Ordinance Code Title 9-604.010 (d). The nitrate-loading estimate for the existing three-bedroom home
and proposed one-bedroom ADU is 11.9 milligrams per Liter (mg/L) of NO3-N (Nitrate as Nitrogen).
The maximum contamination level for NO3-N in groundwater is 10.0 (mg/L) set by the Central Valley
Regional Water Quality Control Board. As a result, an oversized (2,000-gallon) septic tank will be
required to mitigate the excess nitrate level.
2. The Percolation test conducted on March 4, 2026, yielded a percolation rate of 9.62 MPI. At this rate,
a minimum of 8-feet soil separation is required between the bottom of the dispersal field and
groundwater as mitigated by the proposed standard septic system. Additionally, the SSNL reports
groundwater level between 60 to 85 feet below surface grade. (San Joaquin County OWTS Standard
Table 1.10.2)
3. Construction of an approved on-site sewage disposal system(s) under permit and inspection by the
Environmental Health Department is required at the time of development based on the Soil Suitability/
Nitrate Loading Study findings (San Joaquin County Development Title, Section 9-605.010).
4. It is the owner's responsibility to follow operation and maintenance plan to ensure the system meets all
requirements set forth in the design in conformity with San Joaquin County (OWTS) Standard.
If you have any questions please contact Aldara Salinas, Environmental Health Specialist, at (209) 616-3019
or asalinas@sjgov.org.

Steven Shih, REH_940_
Program Coordinator
CC: Ana Maria Ureno, 782 Quail Run Cir., Tracy Ca. 95377
1868 E.
