Existing and Proposed Septic Tank Usage Existing Septic System A septic system is currently located on the Site to serve the existing house (Plates 2 and 3). Proposed Septic System A new septic system will be constructed for the converted ADU (Plate 2). On-Site Septic Permit History The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department septic permit files were searched for the Site addresses; one permit was identified. The permit, dated September 1981, was for a new residential septic system utilizing a 1,600-gallon septic tank and four 80-foot leach lines. The permit has been included in Appendix 4 of this report. Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity To estimate the septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic systems that exist within approximately one square mile surrounding the property. Air photo imagery from Google Earth was used. Each building cluster on the photo was assumed to have one septic system. Using this method, it is estimated that approximately 195 septic systems per square mile are located in the immediate vicinity of the Site. The Site is located within a residential neighborhood surrounded by orchards and agricultural land. Septic Permit History in the Vicinity Based on a review of septic permits on file at the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department for nearby properties, most septic systems in the area utilize leach lines only. The septic permits can be found in Appendix 4 of this report. Expected On-Site Maximum Septic Tank Usage Maximum expected usage on the Site would be from the current and future residents of the Site. Septic system design should be based on the San Joaquin County On-Site Wastewater Treatment Systems Standards (2017) or other engineering recommendations. LOGE 2637 Page 2
