Site, and Holt (248), located approximately 14.2 miles northeast of the Site. Data for
the Ripon station were available for the past nine years; based on the calculation
shown, the estimated rate of recharge from percolating waters for the Ripon station is
determined to be 3.68 inches. An error of 55 percent is associated with this value (Plate
15). Data for the Holt station were also available for the past nine years; based on the
calculation shown, the estimated rate of recharge from percolating waters for the Holt
station is determined to be 3.99 inches. An error of 54 percent is associated with this
value (Plate 16). The values for the two stations were then averaged, for an estimated
rate of recharge of 3.84 inches.
WRCC Tracy Pumping Plant and CIMIS Holt Stations
For the WRCC data, the closest WRCC station is the Tracy Pumping Plant (station
049001), located approximately 5.2 miles northwest of the Site. WRCC does not track
evapotranspiration; consequently, rainfall data from the Tracy Pumping Plant and
evapotranspiration data from the Holt station (the closest San Joaquin County CIMIS
station to the Tracy Pumping Plant) were utilized (Plate 17). Based on the calculation
shown, the estimated rate of recharge from percolating waters for this station is
determined to be 4.94 inches. An error of 63 percent is associated with this value.
Live Oak then averaged the recharge rates from the CIMIS station calculation and the
WRCC Tracy Pumping Plant station to arrive at a recharge value of 4.39 inches for the
vicinity of the project Site.
Quality of Rainwater
Hantzsche and Finnemore listed 1 mg/L-N as the nitrate concentration of rainwater for
their original calculation; in the past, Live Oak has also utilized this value for the nitrate
loading calculation.
To determine a more accurate local value, Live Oak has collected rainwater during 15
recent storm events in Lodi. Each sample was collected in a clean, dry, stainless steel
bowl, then decanted into a plastic container and placed on ice for transport. The
samples were analyzed for nitrate by FGL Environmental of Stockton. The results of
the rainwater sampling are as follows:
LOGE 2637 Page 10
