INC.GETTLER - RYAN <br /> April 13, 2001 R E C E E 0 <br /> Mr Edward C Ralston APR 16 2001 <br /> Tosca Marketing Company <br /> 1380 Lead Hill Road, Suite 120 ENVIRONMENT HEALTH <br /> Rosevi]Ie, CA 95661 PERMIT/SFRVICES <br /> RE Evaluation of Interim Remedial Action - Groundwater Purging and Disposal <br /> Tosco (Former BP) No. 11192 <br /> 1403 Country Club Boulevard,Stockton, California <br /> Mr Ralston <br /> At the request of Tosco Marketing Company (Tosco), Gettler-Ryan Inc (GR) has prepared this report <br /> to evaluate the effectiveness of interim groundwater purging, sampling and disposal conducted for the <br /> subject site This report is prepared in response to the San Joaquin County Public Health Services, <br /> Environmental Health Division (SJCPHS-EHD) correspondence dated February 9, 2001 The work <br /> was performed in accordance the GR's Work Plan for Groundwater Purging and Disposal, dated <br /> September 6, 2000, which proposed a six month trial period for the groundwater purging program In <br /> �r letter dated November 2, 2000, the SJCPHS-EHD approved a two month trial period for the purging <br /> ' program <br /> Groundwater Purging and Disposal <br /> During eight weekly events between November 16, 2000 and January 2, 2001 approximately 2,400 to <br /> 3,800 gallons of groundwater per event were removed from monitoring well MW-3 by Onyx Industrial <br /> Services (Onyx) of Benicia, California In addition, approximately 600 gallons of groundwater were <br /> removed from MW-7 on November 16, 2000 The groundwater was purged directly from the wells into <br /> a Onyx vacuum truck and transported to the Tosco Refinery in Rodeo, California for disposal <br /> Approximately 27,200 gallons of groundwater were remove from the site during the eight weekly <br /> purging events Purging dates and amounts of groundwater removed are presented in Table I <br /> Groundwater Sampling <br /> Groundwater samples were collected from MW-3 prior to and following each of the eight purging <br /> events A water sample was also collected from the purged groundwater on each of the eight events, <br /> prior to its removal from site The groundwater samples are submitted under Chain of Custody for <br /> analysis at Sequoia Analytical (ELAP # 1271) Groundwater samples are analyzed for Total <br /> Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Gasoline (TPHg) by EPA Method 8015, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, <br /> and xylenes (BTEX) by EPA Method 8020 and methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) by EPA Method <br /> 8260B In addition, samples collected during the December 19 and 26, 2000 and January 2, 2001 <br /> events were analyzed for ethanol, tert-butyl alcohol (TBA), MTBE, di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl <br /> tert-butyl ether (ETBE), tert-amyl methyl ether (TAME) by EPA Method 8260B The analytical <br /> results are summarized in Tables 1 and 2 <br /> 6747 Sierra Court , Suite J 9 Dublin , California 94568 ( 925 ) 551 - 7555 <br />
