Minney, Consulting Engineer
11976 Road 37
JMM Madera Ranchos, CA 93638
(209)275-5937 (209)645-1437
January 29, 1999 JOB 96017
Anne Ogrey
Spreckels Sugar
P O Box 60
Tracy CA 95378
SUBJECT: Workplan
Vault Closure
Bunker C Oil
Tracy, California
Dear Anne
As requested, I met with Harlin Knoll of San Joaquin County pursuant
to a fuel oil vault on the Tracy facility The vault is shown on the
attached Site Plan, Figure 1 .
The vault is a former Bunker C fuel oil site which has not been used
in over 30 years .
The purpose of the workplan is to present a scope of work sufficient
for the County to determine that no further action is required at the
site.
You currently perform an ongoing monitoring program on Well B, with
recent test results attached. The depth to groundwater is about ten
feet and the direction of flow is towards Sugar Cut. Well B is
therefore a shallow, downgradient monitoring well . Well B is 125 feet
from the release which is outside the zone of soil contamination which
could result from Bunker C oil The last two results are summarized
in the following table For some constituents, there were two
separate tests run on the same sample Only those constituents which
were detected are listed in the table. i
3 Constituent 9-24-98 12-11-98
mg/l mg/1
Benzene 0 8/0 65 1 .3/0 .096
Toluene 0 041/0 022 0 .067
Xylene 0 097 0 .21
Ethylbenzene 0.12/0 . 09 0 .3/0 .2
MTBE 0 062
n-propylbenzene 0 .008
1, 2 , 4-Trimethylbenzene 0 005 0 . 02
Xylene 0 055 0 . 11
Chloroform 0 . 02
TPH(g) 2 1 3 . 6
i
