Box 388
Stockton, CA 95201-0388
Ref : Marci ' s Diesel Service, 2969 Loomis Road, Stockton CA
Site Code 2015
Dear Linda;
As instructed by your office, we have enclosed a workplan for
placing one (1) 4" groundwater monitoring well on the above site.
Once approval is received, we will assist the Marci ' s in
selecting bids and obtaining pre-approval from the Cleanup Fund
staff . Although we have not made an estimate of costs to do the
work, the placement of the soil boring by Lush Geosciences cost
approximately $8300, not including well completion or water
sampling.
We wish to go on record that we do not believe this additional
work is justified based upon the data available to date. There
is no evidence that the contamination has migrated very far from
the source, and the technology for remediating clayey soils in
situ at these depths does not exist . Excavation is not a viable
option at these depths, and would require the removal of the
building on the property.
Many sampling events have shown that the gradient is divergent,
which supports our belief that the aquifer is very limited in
size and has extremely low porosity & permeability. This is
indicated by the fact that the potentiometric surface is below
80 ' (based on the Lush soil boring, ) but the static level in the
wells is about 681 . Releasing the confining pressure allows the
water to reach equilibrium. It is apparent that there is little
or no horizontal communication with other sands .
Please give us a call if you have any questions .
Since ,
Wm. n er
CC : Marci
Garrison Law Corp .
