THOM CLARK, CITY MANAGE ` a ly
R
PO BOX 248
ESCALON CA 95320
RE: HWY 1201 MCHENRY AVE PROJECT
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD)
has reviewed the August 20, 1996 Final Report of the Limited Subsurface Investigation
SR120/Mchenry project and the April 2, 1997 Limited Soil Assessment of the ARCO
Gas Mini Mart located at 1305 Escalon Ave. and the EZ-Gas Mini Mart located at 1405
Escalon Ave.
Based on the results of the August 20, 1996 report Klienfelder chose to perform
additional investigation at the 1305 and 1405 Escalon Ave. locations. In the April 2, 1997
report Klienfelder recommended no further investigation or cleanup at the 1305 or the
1405 Escalon Ave. locations. PHS/EHD concurs with the Kleinfelder recommendation
that the result of the assessment indicates no justification for additional investigation or
corrective action at any of the reported sampling locations.
The purpose of the self directed assessment was to ascertain the amount of existing
contamination present in the proposed transportation corridor. Pre tank removal
assessments such as this are useful in determining the presence of underground
storage tank fuel leaks. However, the final determination of no further action is reserved
by the regulatory agency (PHS/EHD) pending evaluation of the results of laboratory
analyses of samples obtained during the actual tank removals.
Please call Steven Sasson, Senior REHS, at (209) 468-3459 for additional information.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Steven Sasson, Senior REHS Margaret gorio, REHS`
Site Mitigation Unit Supervisor
cc: Tony Martin - Kleinfelder, Inc.
cc: Ron Heinzen - Kleinfelder, Inc.
cc: Marvin Miller- Nolte and Associates, Inc.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
