However, with regard to Smart& Finals' new hazardous waste labels, which are to be generated by the
hazardous waste transporter, the "contents/composition" written as either Toxic, Flammable, Corrosive Acidic, or
Corrosive Basic, states the hazardous property of the waste, and not the composition (or chemical name) of the waste.
On the other hand, the labels I observed at the time of inspection included a list of contents for employee's to check off
once the waste was placed into a storage container, which meets the hazardous waste labeling requirement for
composition (contents). Please ensure that the hazardous waste containers are being labeled with an accurate
composition (contents) of the waste.
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Thank you,
Elianna Florido, REHS
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
Registered Environmental Health Specialist
1868 East Hazelton Ave
Stockton, CA 95205
P: (209)468-0343 1 F: (209)468-3433 1 E: eflorido@sigov.org
Please note that my email has changed to eflorido@sigov.org—COUNTY-Greatness grows here.
From: Darryl Dinson <Darryl.Dinson@smartandfinal.com>
Sent: Wednesday, November 27, 2019 10:50 AM
To: Florido, Elianna <eflorido@sjgov.org>
Cc: dldinson@aol.com
Subject: RE: Smart& Final#593 -2019 Hazardous Waste Inspection
Hi Elianna
Here is my Return to Compliance Certification for our store cc593 — Lodi.
I have attached the Return to Compliance Certification, and the corresponding cc593 Corrective Action
Statement document.
