Environmental 916/638-2085 <br /> Consultants,Inc FAX 916/638-8385 <br /> Januarys 26, 1995 <br /> Mr Wade Broughton <br /> General Mills, Inc <br /> Post Office Box 3002 <br /> Lodi, California 95241-1906 <br /> Subject Addendum to Request for Site Closure Report <br /> General Mills Facility <br /> 2000 West Turner Road <br /> Lodi, California <br /> Delta Project No D092-708 <br /> Dear Mr Broughton <br /> Delta Environmental Consultants, Inc (Delta), was authorized by General Mills Incorporated <br /> (General Mills) to conduct additional hydrogeologic Investigative work and assessment of the former <br /> underground fuel oil tank location at the General Mills tactlity located at 2000 West Turner Road, <br /> Lodi, San Joaquin County, California The location of the site is shown in Figure I and site features <br /> are shown in Figure 2 <br /> The additional hydrogeologic work was conducted at the request of the San Joaquin County <br /> Environmental Health Division(County) to further assess the vertical extent of petroleum constituents <br /> in soil beneath the former tank location, in order to obtain regulatory closure at the site <br /> The purpose of this letter report is to present the results of additional hydrogeologic work performed <br /> at the site, results of the semi-annual (second-half 1994) ground water sampling event, and to request <br /> closure of the site <br /> Site Background Information <br /> The project site is located at the southwest corner of Turner Road and Mills Avenue as shown on <br /> Figure 2 It is at an elevation of approximately 45 feet above mean sea level The topography in <br /> the area is generally flat with a slight elevation increase in the vicinity of the site to the northeast <br /> Lodi Municipal Lake Park is located approximately 1,200 feet northeast of the former underground <br /> tank location This park is formed from the Mokelumne River, which is located approximately one <br /> half mile north of the site (Figure 1) <br /> In 1947 or 1948, two 5,000 gallon underground fuel oil tanks were installed at the location shown <br /> in Figures 2 and 3 In 1972 General Mills decided to replace the tanks with three 12,000 gallon <br /> underground storage tanks (USTs) as a preemptive measure for possible fuel shortages The tanks <br /> were removed and replaced in 1973 According to the General Mills engineer in charge of the tank <br /> replacement project, oil-stained soil was observed, however, no puddles of oil were present <br /> Providing a Comcetitive Edge <br /> A <br />
