Loop West, Suite 600
Houston, Texas 77292 11-1565-0411
Subject: Third Quarter Groundwater Monitoring Report, Former E-Z Serve
Station #100878, 1012 West Yosemite Avenue, Manteca, California
Dear Mr. Cobb.
Brown and Caldwell conducted the third quarter groundwater monitoring event at E-Z Serve
Management Company's (E-Z Serve) Former Station #100878, 1012 West Yosemite Avenue,
Manteca, California, on September 27, 1994 This sampling event signifies the first phase of
work conducted by Brown and Caldwell at this site The work performed at the subject site
included collecting depth-to-groundwater measurements from eight groundwater monitoring
. wells, purging and sampling eight wells, and submitting the groundwater samples to SPL Inc.,
an analytical laboratory located in Houston, Texas and certified by the State of California
Department of Toxic Substance Control for analysis of hazardous materials. Field work was
performed following the procedures outlined in Attachment A
Summary of Findings
Depth-to-water measurements were collected using an oil-water interface probe. Free product
was not identified in any of the monitoring wells, however, a slight odor was identified in Well
MW-2. A minimum of three well volumes was purged from each of the monitoring wells prior
to sampling, except for Well MW-3, which dried out during the purging process Samples
were collected from each of the monitoring wells, transferred to the appropriate sampling vials,
and submitted to SPL Inc., within 48 hours of collection, under appropriate chain of custody.
SPL reported receiving the samples at a temperature of 15°Celsius This temperature is above
the goal of 4° Celsius, however, it is below the temperature of the groundwater at the time of
sampling. Samples were analyzed by SPL, Inc. for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline,
benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene isomers, following Environmental Protection
Agency Methods 8015 modified and 8020.
Field data collected during the sampling event indicate groundwater elevations have decreased
significantly relative to last quarter. Groundwater is flowing to the north-northwest under ani
average gradient of approximately 0.002 feet per foot. Analytical results show very little` '
I
i
I I
I Ilii fl I i
4 II
