KLEINFEL DER
Bright People.Right Solutions.
Geotechnical Engineering
TECHNICAL MEMORANDUM Materials Testing&Inspection
Environmental Science&Engineering
Water Resources
Earthquake Engineering
Air Quality
DATE: December 29, 2020
PROJECT No.: 20181648.005A
To: San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
1868 East Hazelton Ave.
Stockton, CA 95205
SUBJECT: Work Plan for Monitoring Well Replacement Permit Application
City of Stockton, Municipal Utilities Department
Parcel 163-330-030-000, 2500 Navy Drive
Stockton, San Joaquin County, California
Work will consist of replacing an existing standpipe piezometer monitoring well (MW-2) with a
new grouted in-place vibrating wire piezometer (MW-3) for geotechnical investigation purposes
at the existing City of Stockton, Municipal Utilities Department Facilities at 2500 Navy Drive,
Stockton, California (Parcel 163-330-030-000). The location of MW-2 and the proposed location
of MW-3 are shown in the attached map.
The existing standpipe piezometer monitoring well, MW-2, consists of a 2-inch PVC installed to a
depth of 50 feet. The MW-2 boring log and well diagram are also attached. MW-2 will be over-
drilled and grouted immediately upon completion of drilling in accordance with DWR Standards
by backfilling the borehole using a neat cement grout mix with a water to cement ratio of 3 gallons
of water per 47-lb sack of cement using a tremie pipe.
The proposed MW-3 will be drilled to a maximum depth of 75 feet below the existing surface. Soil
sampling will occur within a 4- to 8-inch diameter vertical borehole drilled with either hollow stem
auger or mud rotary drilling techniques. Upon completion of drilling, a Vibrating Wire Piezometer
(VWP) will be lowered into the borehole. While the VWP is suspended inside the borehole, the
borehole will be backfilled in accordance also with ❑WR Standards. A diagram of the grouted in-
place VWP is shown below. A well cover will be installed to protect the piezometer and data
logger, and to allow access to download the data from the data logger.
r:uU.
granted
20181648.005A Page 1 of 2 December 29, 2020
Copyright 2020 Kleinfelder
2001 Arch-Airport Road, Suite 100, Stockton, CA 95206 p 1209,948.1345 f 1209.234.4700
