February 23, 2007
MEMORANDUM[
TO: Torn Gau, Chief Deputy Director
Development Services
FROM: Michael Callahan, Senior Civil Engineer
Public Services
SUBJECT: PACIFIC GAS &ELECTRIC REQUEST FOR A WAIVER OF
THE TRENCHING POLICY.
This memo is regarding a request from PG&E for a waiver of the San Joaquin County
Department of Public Works trenching policy for two locations in Woodbridge. PG&E is
planning to expose a high pressure gas main at five locations in the town of Woodbridge.
The pipe line has been identified as having potential leakage at those locations. Since
Mokelumne Street and Lower Sacramento Road were recently reconstructed, our policy
does not allow for pavement cuts on those roadways. The three other remaining locations
are not within the pavement surface. In order to mitigate for the trenches, PG&E will line
saw-cut, grind and resurfaces the pavement as shown on the attached"EXHIBIT A and
EXHIBIT B" drawings.
My recommendation is to allow the applicant to tap into the gas line as stated above
based on the proposed mitigation to grind and resurface the recently reconstruction
roadway to conform to the rest of the road. Any disturbed striping is to be replaced as it
was before the work was performed. Pete Martin from Design Engineering and David
Mendoza from Field Engineering, have reviewed and approve the work that is planned to
be performed on Mokelumne Street and Lower Sacramento Road.
Approved by:
