HAZARD MITIGATORS - EYE INJURY <br /> Applies to Task: K O ® ❑ ® ❑ ® ❑ ® ❑ ® ❑ O ❑ <br /> • Wear appropriate eye protection according to the task at hand. <br /> HAZARD TYPE OF PROTECTION <br /> Impact Safety glasses with side shield or vented safety <br /> goggles <br /> Heat (Sparks) Vented safety goggles or safety glasses with a face <br /> shield <br /> Chemical Hooded vented safety goggles or full-face respirator <br /> (if mild chemicals then safety glasses with side <br /> shield is acceptable) <br /> Light Radiation Tinted/reflective safety glasses or tinted/reflective <br /> face shield <br /> Dust Hooded vented safety goggles <br /> • Apply anti-fog product to lens not previously treated. <br /> • Minimize the; amount of vapor or particulate matter generated, if possible. <br /> • Avoid touching the face and eyes. <br /> • Flush eyes with water for at least 15 minutes if chemicals do get into the eyes. If <br /> condition persists, seek medical attention. <br /> • If dust or foreign objects are in your eyes, do not rub your eyes. <br /> • If an object becomes embedded in the eye, do not attempt to remove. Lightly bandage <br /> your eyes, or both eyes, if possible and immediately seek medical attention. <br /> • Do not wear contact lenses if chemical or dust hazard is present (e.g. decontamination or <br /> preservation chemicals used during sampling). <br /> • Provide on-site training to workers before tasks at hand. <br /> Eye Injury— HazMit.doc 1 of 2 <br /> 8/3/2007 <br />
