HAZARD MITIGATORS - HAND/FOOT INJURY <br /> Applies to Task: C@ O 9® ❑ © ❑ ® ❑ ® ❑ ® ❑ m ❑ <br /> • Wear protective gloves as required in the Health and Safety Plan. Gloves should be <br /> chosen to suit the work being performed (e.g., chemical resistant gloves will be worn <br /> when handling chemicals or sampling for suspected chemicals). <br /> • Steel-toed/steel--shanked safety boots must be worn whenever working around heavy <br /> objects (or as required by the HASP). Insulated and/or waterproof boots may also be <br /> warranted depending on weather conditions. Boots should be inspected periodically for <br /> signs of wear(e.g., cracks in rubber or along soles) and replaced as required. <br /> • Durable footwear which provides adequate ankle support should be worn when working <br /> in rugged terrain. <br /> • Use proper lifting techniques to avoid dropping heavy loads on hands and feet (refer to <br /> lifting heavy loads hazard mitigator) <br /> • Be aware of moving machinery and heavy equipment in the work area and tuck away any <br /> loose clothing. <br /> Hand/Foot Injury—HazMit.doc Page 1 of 1 8/3/2007 <br />
