HAZARD MITIGATORS - NOISE <br /> Applies to Task: 21 O 19 ® ❑ ® ❑ ® ❑ M ❑ ® ❑ m ❑ <br /> • Wear hearing protection in areas with constant or loud noise. <br /> • Know the effects of noise, including: <br /> — Workers being startled, annoyed, or distracted. <br /> — Physical damage to the ear, pain, and temporary and/or permanent hearing loss. <br /> Communication interference that may increase potential hazards due to the inability to <br /> warn of danger and proper safety precautions to be taken. <br /> • Implement the company Hearing Conservation Program when noise exposures equal or <br /> exceed an 8-hour, time-weighed average (TWA) sound level of 85 decibels on the A- <br /> weighed scale (dBA). <br /> • Utilize feasible administrative or engineering controls if workers are subjected to noise <br /> exceeding an 8-hour TWA sound level of 90 dBA. <br /> Noise —HazMit.doc Page 1 of 1 8/3/2007 <br />
