HAZARD MITIGATORS — SLIPS, TRIPS AND FALLS <br /> Applies to Task: 0 O qCD ❑ p ❑ ® ❑ ® ❑ p ❑ m ❑ <br /> • Wear the proper foot wear and clothing for the task at hand. <br /> • Pay attention to the work environment and become aware of all equipment and vehicles <br /> active onsite and use caution when moving about. <br /> • Use caution when walking on sloped areas (especially geosynthetics), particularly when <br /> moisture is present. Use caution when walking on soft or uneven surfaces; e.g., marsh <br /> areas. Watch for icy conditions in cold weather. <br /> • Follow the established designated safe paths for travel and keep these areas free from <br /> debris. Avoid steep or slippery slopes and paths near operation vehicles and equipment. <br /> • Follow good housekeeping procedures. Never assume that someone else will clean up a <br /> spill or put away,an object. <br /> • Remove or clearly mark objects that pose tripping hazards. <br /> • Prevent water accumulation where practicable. <br /> • Cables and/or writing should be taped down, when possible. Locate cables and/or wiring <br /> out of the commonly used areas. <br /> • Mark or repair arty opening or hole in the floor. <br /> • Carry objects in a manner that allows you to see in the area you are moving in. Do not <br /> carry objects that: are too large or bulky. Do not carry more weight than you can balance <br /> and keep stable. Understand that PPE can reduce or limit your field of vision and mobility. <br /> • Use the proper ladder for the task at hand and do not exceed the recommended height. Do <br /> not use the top two rungs of a ladder. Ensure a flat and stable footing for the placement of <br /> a ladder. Utilize the buddy system to help secure the ladder. When working over 6 ft., <br /> utilize fall prevention measures. Obey height and weight guidelines and/or rules. <br /> • Use the handrail when using stairs.
