HAZARD MITIGATORS.- THOROUGHFARES <br /> Applies to Task: [� 1(D ffJ O ❑ O ❑ ® ❑ O ❑ © ❑ O ❑ <br /> • Obtain necessary permits to use/block public thoroughfares. <br /> • All care should be taken to ensure the integrity of walking and working surfaces,including <br /> the use of barriers, toekicks,etc. to warn personnel and the public of the potential fall and <br /> tripping hazards. Guardrails or barrier walls should be constructed surrounding open pits <br /> and trenches as appropriate. <br /> • Traffic control plans will be produced and followed when required by the permitting <br /> agency or when working;on or adjacent to a highway or a busy street. The traffic control <br /> plan shall be brought to the site and shall delineate the locations of applicable signs, <br /> signals and barricades;describe the necessity for flaggers;and provide other traffic control <br /> information.. <br /> • Signaling equipment and directions by flaggers shall conform to the latest edition of the <br /> U.S. Department of Transportation — Federal Highway Administration, Manual on <br /> Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways(http://mutcd.fhwa.dot.gov). <br /> • Haggers shall be provided with and shall wear fluorescent orange-red or fluorescent <br /> yellow-green garments while flagging. Warning garments worn at night shall be made of <br /> reflective material. The: garments should meet the requirements of ISEA, American <br /> National Standard for High-Visibility Apparel. <br /> • Barricades for protection of employees shall conform to the portions of the latest edition of <br /> the U.S. Department of Transportation — Federal Highway Administration„ Manual on <br /> Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Street and Highways (http://mutcd.fhwa.dot.gov), <br /> relating to barricades. <br /> ?
