CarihY yqv.m.aw
Dear lr of I
Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) is planning to conduct some testing in your
I he pipeline has been in service for many years, and has continued to provide safe
and reliable service to your community. PG&E is required by Federal and State
regulation to perform this testing.
The testing will be performed by our Contractor J.W. Pipeline Integrity Services under
our supervision. The testing involves placing a probe in contact with the ground surface
and taking readings of the corrosion protection on the line, every ten feet. If the surface
is soil (including grass., dirt, etc.) the reading can be taken directly however if there is a
hard surface, like asphalt or concrete a small 7/8 inch diameter hole must be drilled
through the asphalt or concrete to get to soil. When drilling is required and after the
"read" is taken, the hole is plugged with an approved plug and crack sealer. This
provides a waterproof repair for the very small hole. (see attached)
There are several miles of testing throughout your area and we are scheduling this test
between the months of August and December of 2007.. If our pipeline runs through your
property our contractor will need to access the pipeline throughout your property. If this
is the case someone from J.W. PIS will be contacting you directly to schedule the testing
that needs to be performed along your property. In the event you have any questions,
please feel free to contact Mark Van Arsdale of Pacific Gas and Electric (707) 974-4059
or Ms. Lee Haynes Pacific Gas and Electric (925) 519-2021.
Sincerely,
i
Mark Van Arsdale- Gas Estimator
Pacific Gas and Electric Company
