hatches shall be a minimum of 30 inches wide by 36 inches long, with the ladder <br /> centered on the shorter dimension, and the door hinge opposite the ladder. <br /> D. Door leaves shall be a minimum of 1/4-inch checkered pattern plate. Channel <br /> frames shall be a minimum of 1/4-inch material with an anchor flange around the <br /> perimeter. Hatches shall be provided with an automatic hold-open arm with <br /> release handle. Hatches shall be designed for easy opening from both inside <br /> and outside. <br /> E. Hatches shall be designed to be water-tight and shall be equipped with a joint <br /> gutter and moat-type edge drain. A 1-1/2-inch diameter (minimum) drain <br /> connection shall be provided, located by the manufacturer. <br /> F. Hatches shall include a recessed hasp for a padlock that is covered by a hinged <br /> lid flush with the surface. <br /> 2.06 BOLTS AND ANCHORS <br /> A. Unless otherwise indicated, bolts, washers, and nuts shall be stainless steel. <br /> Except as otherwise indicated, steel for bolts, anchor bolts and cap screws shall <br /> be in accordance with the requirements of ASTM A 193 Grade B-7. <br /> B. Corrosive Service: All bolts, nuts, and washers in the locations listed below shall <br /> be stainless steel as indicated below. <br /> 1. All buried locations. <br /> 2. All submerged locations. <br /> 3. All locations subject to seasonal or occasional flooding. <br /> 4. Inside hydraulic structures below the top of the structure. <br /> 5. Inside buried vaults, manholes, and structures which do not drain through <br /> a gravity sewer or to a sump with a pump. <br /> 6. All chemical handling areas. <br /> 7. Inside trenches, containment walls, and curbed areas. <br /> 8. Locations indicated by the Contract Documents or designated by the <br /> Engineer to be provided with stainless steel bolts. <br /> C. Stainless steel bolts, nuts, anchor bolts, and washers shall be of Type 316 <br /> stainless steel, with bronze nuts, or cap screws (where screwed into stainless <br /> steel), of copper-silicon alloy, conforming to ASTM B 98, alloy C 65100, <br /> designation H04, or alloy C 65500, designation H04. Wherever stainless steel <br /> bolts and nuts are indicated, it shall refer to the above material combination, <br /> unless specifically excluded <br /> D. Bolt Requirements: <br /> 1. The bolt and nut material shall be free-cutting steel. <br /> 2. The nuts shall be capable of developing the full strength of the bolts. <br /> Threads shall be Coarse Thread Series conforming to the requirements of <br /> July 2007 <br /> Division 111-98 NEI Phase II Water and Sewer <br /> CIP Nos. 7468, 7589, 7590 <br />
