B. AC Mitigation Test Stations —
1. IJTSPRA, IJTSRA, and ACTS
2. Install the test stations where indicated on Drawings. Provide a concrete
collar where the test station is to be installed. Set collar level and flush
with top of curb or finish grade in paved areas and two (2) inches above _
grade in landscaped and unimproved areas. Provide a minimum of 18
inches of slack for each cable in each test station. Sufficient slack shall
be provided to allow for removal of the terminal box from the test station
without disconnecting any of the cables. The terminal end of each cable --
shall be identified with the structure identification using the permanent
cable identification tags. All cables shall be terminated utilizing heavy duty
tinned copper, compression type ring terminals. An approved crimping _
tool shall be utilized.
3. Install Terminal boxes with dead fronts in all existing galvanic anode test —
stations. The terminal end of each cable shall be identified with the
structure identification using the permanent cable identification tags. All
cables shall be terminated utilizing heavy duty tinned copper,
compression type ring terminals. An approved crimping tool shall be -
utilized.
3.09 INSULATING BLANKET INSTALLATION
A. The insulating blanket shall be installed at the location where the ductile iron
waterline crosses existing metallic gas, water and sewer pipelines, as shown in _
the drawings. The blanket shall measure 10' x 10' and shall be midway between
the foreign pipeline and the waterline. The insulating blanket must be installed a
minimum of 1 foot from the foreign pipeline and the waterline and shall not be _
laid directly on the pipelines. In order to ensure the blanket is installed one foot
from the foreign pipeline, the Contractor shall expose the foreign pipeline as
required to ensure the minimum clearance of 1 foot between the pipelines. One
foot of sand or pipe backfill shall be laid over the top of the insulating blanket
prior to installing the waterline in the trench.
3.10 INSULATING FLANGE INSTALLATION AND COATING
A. Installation: The existing flange shall be cleaned of all dirt, grease, oil and other
foreign materials immediately prior to assembly. Bolts shall be removed one at a —
time insulating sleeves and washers inserted and the bolt tightened. The bolt
shall be held stationary and the nut shall be tightened to appropriate torque to
prevent damage to the insulation. The process shall be repeated for all bolts in _
the flange. After flanged bolts have been tightened, each insulating washer shall
be inspected for cracks or other damage. All damaged washers shall be
replaced. After assembly, resistance between each bolt and flange shall be
measured with an approved ohmmeter, and the minimum resistance shall be
50,000 ohms. The completed joint shall be tested by the Engineer utilizing a
radio frequency flange insulation tester. If all bolts are determined to be insulating _
Division III-145 NEI Phase II Water and Sewer —
July 2007 CIP Nos.7468, 7589,7590
