Extension <br /> stems shall be constructed of steel and shall be complete with two-inch square operating nut. <br /> 2.03 BUTTERFLY VALVES <br /> Butterfly valves shall be manufactured in accordance with the latest revision of AWWA C504, - <br /> class 150B. Valves shall be iron body, rubber seated, tight-closure. The manufacturer shall have <br /> produced AWWA butterfly valves for a minimum of five years. Valve interior shall be epoxy <br /> coated in accordance with AWWA C550 suitable for drinking water. Buried butterfly valves shall _ <br /> be fitted for buried service including cadmium plated bolts. Valves shall be furnished with ends <br /> conforming to the style of the pipe or fittings. <br /> Valve shafts shall be fabricated of AISI Type 304 or 316 stainless steel. The use of shafts <br /> having a hexagonal cross section will not be acceptable. Acceptable seating surfaces mating <br /> with rubber are AISI Type 304 or 316 stainless steel, monel, or plasma-applied nickel-chrome <br /> overlay for all valves, bronze and alloy cast iron. <br /> Butterfly valves shall be manufactured by American, Mueller, Kennedy, Pratt, or equal. <br /> 2.04 GATE VALVES <br /> All small gate valves of a size less than three inches for threaded joints shall be Crane _. <br /> Company No. 438, Mueller H10914, or equal, with wedge disc and rising stem and screwed <br /> ends. <br /> All larger valves shall be iron body with bronze stem nuts, glands, and bushings; resilient-seated <br /> gate valve with resilient seat bonded or mechanically attached to the gate; non-rising stem <br /> (NRS); working water pressure of 200 psi; and conforming to the requirements of AWWA C509. <br /> Valve interior shall be epoxy coated in accordance with AWWA C550. Buried valves shall have <br /> two-inch square operating nuts. As shown on the plans, valves shall be furnished with ends <br /> flanged, mechanical joint, or bell, using an Elastomeric-Gasket seal, and shall conform in <br /> dimensions and style to the pipe and/or fitting requirements. Gate valves installed in vertical <br /> pipelines shall be of square bottom construction. Gate valves shall be as manufactured by <br /> Mueller, Clow, Kennedy, or American. <br /> 2.05 BALL VALVES <br /> Unless otherwise indicated or specified, all 2'/-inch and smaller shutoff valves shall be ball _ <br /> valves. Two-inch and smaller ball valves for general air and water service shall be of bronze or <br /> brass construction with two piece end entry body, with threaded ends, Teflon seats, and hand <br /> lever operators. Valves shall be rated not less than 500 psi non-shock cold WOG and shall be _ <br /> drip tight in both directions. Valves shall be Apollo 70-100 series, Stockham S-216, or equal. <br /> 2.07 RESERVOIR CONTROL VALVE _ <br /> The reservoir control valve shall be 12-inch diameter, globe style, designed to control the high <br /> water level in the reservoir while sustaining inlet pressure and designed for high pressure drop <br /> capability of 45 psi to atmosphere through the use of two multi-orificed stainless steel sleeves — <br /> within the valve body. The valve shall be provided and installed with all accessories and <br /> appurtenances necessary for a complete operable system. Accessories shall include pilots for <br /> reservoir filling, enable/close 120 volts AC solenoid valve (energize to open altitude valve, the <br /> Division III-163 NEI Phase II Water and Sewer <br /> July 2007 CIP Nos.7468, 7589, 7590 <br />
