3. Risers shall be made with PVC coated galvanized rigid steel (GRS-PVC) <br /> conduit using threaded adapters. Bond each metallic portion to each other and <br /> to equipment connected at each end of conduit run. <br /> 4. PVC fittings shall have watertight solvent-weld-type conduit connections. <br /> 5. PVC conduit shall be stored on a flat surface and shielded from the sun. <br /> 6. PVC conduit shall not be used above grade. <br /> F. Liquid Tight Flexible Metal Conduit - (FLEX) <br /> 1. All fie): conduits shall be metallic with water tight outer jackets. <br /> 2. Connectors: <br /> a. NEMA areas: PVC coated metallic with insulated bushings. <br /> b. Non-NEMA 4X area: Metallic with insulated bushings. <br /> 3. Final connections to vibrating equipment such as motors and fans shall be <br /> made with flexible conduits. <br /> 4. Flexible conduit lengths shall not be greater than 36 inches. <br /> 5. Flexible metallic conduit shall not be considered as a ground conductor, install <br /> a separate wire for equipment bonding. <br /> 6. Flexible conduit shall only be installed in exposed or accessible locations. <br /> 7. Flexible conduits shall be used for conduit coupling to all vibrating and shifting <br /> equipment. <br /> 2.06 WIRING DEVICES <br /> A. Boxes <br /> 1. Device boxes shall be of zinc-galvanized steel type with shape and size best <br /> sulited for the particular application, rated for the location installed, and shall be <br /> supported directly to structure by means of screws, anchors, or bolts. <br /> 2. Box dimensions shall be in accordance with size, quantity of conductors, and <br /> conduit clearances per NEC articles 370 requirements. <br /> 3. Boxes exposed to the weather or in moist locations shall be weatherproof <br /> (WP) PVC coated cast type with threaded hubs. <br /> B. Switches <br /> 1. General purpose switches shall be manufactured in accordance with UL 20. <br /> Switches shall be one pole rated, 20 amps, at 277 VAC. Bodies shall be of <br /> ivory phenolic compound supported by mounting strap having plaster ears. <br /> Switches shall have copper alloy contact arm with silver cadmium oxide <br /> contacts. Switches shall have slotted terminal screws and a separate green <br /> grounding screw. Furnish Hubbell 1221, Leviton 1221, or approved equal. <br /> C. Receptacles <br /> 1. General purpose receptacles shall be duplex and rated 20 amps, 120VAC, 2 <br /> pole, 3 wire grounding, NEMA 5-20R configuration, specification grade, and <br /> side wired to screw terminals.
