D. Battery backup systems. <br /> Completely wired controller cabinets, with auxiliary equipment but without controller unit, will be furnished to the <br /> Contractor at 1604 South B Street, Stockton,CA. <br /> The Contractor shall notify the Engineer not less than 48 hours before State-furnished material is to be picked up by the <br /> Contractor. A full description of the material and the time the material will be picked up shall be provided. <br /> SECTION 8-2. CONCRETE <br /> 8-2.01 PORTLAND CEMENT CONCRETE <br /> Portland cement concrete shall conform to the provisions in Section 90, "Portland Cement Concrete," of the Standard <br /> Specifications and these special provisions. <br /> The Department maintains a list of sources of fine and coarse aggregate that have been approved for use with a reduced <br /> amount of supplementary cementitious material in the total amount of cementitious material to be used. A source of <br /> aggregate will be considered for addition to the approved list if the producer of the aggregate submits to the Transportation <br /> Laboratory certified test results from a qualified testing laboratory that verify the aggregate complies with the requirements. <br /> Before the testing starts,the aggregate test shall be registered with the Department. A registration number can be obtained by <br /> calling (916)227-7228. The registration number shall be used as the identification for the aggregate sample in <br /> correspondence with the Department. Upon request, a split of the tested sample shall be provided to the Department. <br /> Approval of aggregate will depend upon compliance with the specifications, based on the certified test results submitted, <br /> together with any replicate testing the Department may elect to perform. Approval will expire 3 years from the date the most <br /> recent registered and evaluated sample was collected from the aggregate source. <br /> Qualified testing laboratories shall conform to the following requirements: <br /> 1. Laboratories performing ASTM Designation: C 1293 shall participate in the Cement and Concrete Reference <br /> Laboratory(CCRL)Concrete Proficiency Sample Program and shall have received a score of 3 or better on each test <br /> of the previous 2 sets of concrete samples. <br /> 2. Laboratories performing ASTM Designation: C 1260 shall participate in the Cement and Concrete Reference <br /> Laboratory (CCRL) Pozzolan Proficiency Sample Program and shall have received a score of 3 or better on the <br /> shrinkage and soundness tests of the previous 2 sets of pozzolan samples. <br /> Aggregates on the list shall conform to one of the following requirements: <br /> 1. When the aggregate is tested in conformance with the requirements in California Test 554 and ASTM Designation: <br /> C 1293,the average expansion at one year shall be less than or equal to 0.040 percent;or <br /> 2. When the aggregate is tested in conformance with the requirements in California Test 554 and ASTM Designation: <br /> C 1260,the average of the expansion at 16 days shall be less than or equal to 0.15 percent. <br /> If the aggregates used in the concrete are on the Department's list,the minimum amount of supplementary cementitious <br /> material shall conform to the following: <br /> 1. If fly ash or natural pozzolan conforming to the provisions in Section 90-2.01C, "Required Use of Supplementary <br /> Cementitious Materials," of the Standard Specifications is used, the minimum amount of supplementary <br /> cementitious material shall be 15 percent by mass of the total cementitious material;or <br /> 2. If silica fume conforming to the provisions in Section 90-2.01C, "Required Use of Supplementary Cementitious <br /> Materials," of the Standard Specifications is used, the minimum amount of supplementary cementitious material <br /> shall be 7 percent by mass of the total cementitious material. <br /> The limitation on tricalcium silicate (C3S) content in Type II cement specified in Section 90-2.O1A, "Cement," of the <br /> Standard Specifications shall not apply. <br /> SECTION 8-3. WELDING <br /> 8-3.01 WELDING <br /> GENERAL <br /> Flux cored welding electrodes conforming to the requirements of AWS A5.20 E6XT-4 or E7XT4 shall not be used to <br /> perform welding for this project. <br /> Contract No. 10-OM7104 <br /> 127 <br />
