Retroreflectivity of the thermoplastic pavement markings shall conform to the requirements in ASTM Designation: <br /> D 6359-99. White thermoplastic pavement markings shall have a minimum initial retroreflectivity of 250 mcd•m2•lz'. <br /> Yellow thermoplastic pavement markings shall have a minimum initial retroreflectivity of 150 mcd•M-2 IX-1. <br /> Thermoplastic pavement markings shall be free of runs,bubbles,craters,drag marks,stretch marks,and debris. <br /> At the option of the Contractor, permanent pavement marking tape conforming to the provisions in "Prequalified and <br /> Tested Signing and Delineation Materials" of these special provisions may be placed instead of the thermoplastic pavement <br /> markings specified herein. Permanent tape,if used,shall be installed in conformance with the manufacturer's specifications. <br /> If permanent tape is placed instead of thermoplastic pavement markings, the tape will be measured and paid for by the <br /> square meter as thermoplastic pavement marking. <br /> SECTION 10-2. (BLANK) <br /> SECTION 10-3. SIGNALS,LIGHTING AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS <br /> 10-3.01 DESCRIPTION <br /> Traffic signals and lighting shall conform to the provisions in Section 86, "Signals, Lighting and Electrical Systems,"of <br /> the Standard Specifications and these special provisions. <br /> Traffic signal work shall be performed at the following locations: <br /> A. South Bound Route 5 ramps and French Camp road <br /> B. North Bound Route 5 ramps and French Camp road <br /> 10-3.02 COST BREAK-DOWN <br /> Cost break-downs shall conform to the provisions in Section 86-1.03, "Cost Break-Down," of the Standard <br /> Specifications and these special provisions. <br /> ]0-3.The Engineer shall be furnished a cost break-down for each contract lump sum item of work described in this Section <br /> The cost break-down shall be submitted to the Engineer for approval within 15 days after the contract has been approved. <br /> The cost break-down shall be approved, in writing, by the Engineer before any partial payment for the items of electrical <br /> work will be made. <br /> 10-3.03 FOUNDATIONS <br /> Reinforced cast-in-drilled-hole concrete pile foundations for traffic signal and lighting standards shall conform to the <br /> provisions in"Piling"of these special provisions. <br /> 10-3.04 STANDARDS,STEEL PEDESTALS,AND POSTS <br /> Standards, steel pedestals, and posts for traffic signal and lighting standards shall conform to the provisions in <br /> Section 86-2.04, "Standards, Steel Pedestals and Posts," of the Standard Specifications, "Steel Structures" of these special <br /> provisions,and the following requirements. <br /> Steel bolts not designated on the plans as high-strength(HS)or stainless steel shall be for general applications and shall <br /> conform to the requirements in ASTM Designation: A 307. <br /> The sign mounting hardware shall be installed at the locations shown on the plans. <br /> Mast arm mounted street name signs shall be installed on signal mast arms at the locations shown on the plans. The <br /> Contractor furnished hanger assembly will be similar to that shown for internally illuminated street name signs. The <br /> mounting hardware and sign shall be assembled. The assembly shall be attached to the mast arm using a 19 mm x 0.53 mm <br /> stainless steel strap in a manner similar to the strap and saddle bracket method shown on the plans. The band shall be <br /> wrapped at least twice around the mast arm,tightened, and secured with a stainless strap seal in the same manner shown for <br /> strap and saddle bracket sign mounting. Signs, straps, seals, saddle brackets, and mounting hardware shall be furnished by <br /> the Contractor. The sign panel shall be leveled and hardware securely tightened. <br /> Handhole reinforcement rings for standards,steel pedestals,and posts shall be continuous around the handholes. <br /> Type 1 standards shall be assembled and set with the handhole on the downstream side of the pole in relation to traffic or <br /> as shown on the plans. <br /> All ferrous metal parts of tubular sign structures shall be galvanized and shall not be painted. <br /> Contract No. 10-OM7104 <br /> 177 <br />
