• The contract price paid per meter for cast-in-drilled-hole concrete piling shall include full compensation for
<br /> furnishing all labor,materials,tools, equipment, and incidentals,and for doing all work involved in drilling holes, disposing
<br /> of material resulting from drilling holes, temporarily casing holes and removing water when necessary, furnishing and
<br /> placing concrete and reinforcement, and constructing reinforced concrete extensions, complete in place, to the required
<br /> penetration, as shown on the plans, as specified in these specifications and in the special provisions, and as directed by the
<br /> Engineer.
<br /> The seventh paragraph in Section 49-6.02,"Payment,"of the Standard Specifications is amended to read
<br /> • The contract unit price paid for drive pile shall include full compensation for furnishing all labor, materials,tools,
<br /> equipment,and incidentals,and for doing all the work involved in driving timber,concrete and steel piles,driving steel shells
<br /> for cast-in-place concrete piles,placing filling materials for cast-in-place concrete piles and cutting off piles, all complete in
<br /> place to the required nominal resistance and penetration as shown on the plans and as specified in these specifications and the
<br /> special provisions,and as directed by the Engineer.
<br /> The ninth paragraph in Section 49-6.02,"Payment,"of the Standard Specifications is amended to read:
<br /> • Full compensation for all jetting, drilling,providing special driving tips or heavier sections for steel piles or shells,
<br /> or other work necessary to obtain the specified penetration and nominal resistance of the piles, for predrilling holes through
<br /> embankment and filling the space remaining around the pile with sand or pea gravel, for disposing of material resulting from
<br /> jetting,drilling or predrilling holes,and for all excavation and backfill involved in constructing concrete extensions as shown
<br /> on the plans, and as specified in these specifications and the special provisions, and as directed by the Engineer shall be
<br /> considered as included in the contract unit price paid for drive pile or in the contract price paid per meter for
<br /> cast-in-drilled-hole concrete piling,and no additional compensation will be allowed therefor.
<br /> Section 49-6.02, "Payment,"of the Standard Specifications is amended by adding the following paragraphs:
<br /> • Full compensation for furnishing and placing additional testing reinforcement, for load test anchorages, and for
<br /> cutting off test piles, shall be considered as included in the contract price paid for piling of the type or class shown in the
<br /> Engineer's Estimate,and no additional compensation will be allowed.
<br /> • No additional compensation or extension of time will be made for additional foundation investigation, installation
<br /> and testing of indicator piling,cutting off piling and restoring the foundation investigation and indicator pile sites,and review
<br /> of request by the Engineer.
<br /> SECTION 50: PRESTRESSING CONCRETE
<br /> Issue Date: January 5,2007
<br /> Section 50-1.02, "Drawings," of the Standard Specifications is amended by adding the following paragraph after the
<br /> second paragraph:
<br /> • Each working drawing submittal shall consist of plans for a single bridge or portion thereof. For multi-frame
<br /> bridges,each frame shall require a separate working drawing submittal.
<br /> The eighth paragraph of Section 50-1.02, "Drawings,"of the Standard Specifications is deleted.
<br /> Section 50-1.05, "Prestressing Steel,"of the Standard Specifications is amended to read: —
<br /> • Prestressing steel shall be high-tensile wire conforming to the requirements in ASTM Designation: A 421,including
<br /> Supplement 1; high-tensile seven-wire strand conforming to the requirements in ASTM Designation: A 416; or uncoated
<br /> high-strength steel bars conforming to the requirements in ASTM Designation: A 722, including all supplementary
<br /> requirements. The maximum mass requirement of ASTM Designation: A 722 will not apply.
<br /> In addition to the requirements of ASTM Designation: A 722, for deformed bars, the reduction of area shall be
<br /> determined from a bar from which the deformations have been removed. The bar shall be machined no more than necessary
<br /> to remove the deformations over a length of 300 mm,and reduction will be based on the area of the machined portion.
