The second paragraph in Section 51-1.18C, "Class 2 Surface Finish (Gun Finish)," of the Standard Specifications is <br /> amended to read: <br /> • When Class 2 surface finish(gun finish)is specified,ordinary surface finish shall first be completed. The concrete <br /> surfaces shall then be abrasive blasted to a rough texture and thoroughly washed down with water. While the washed <br /> surfaces are damp,but not wet,a finish coating of machine applied mortar,approximately 6 mm thick,shall be applied in not <br /> less than 2 passes. The coating shall be pneumatically applied and shall consist of either(1)sand,cementitious material,and <br /> water mechanically mixed prior to its introduction to the nozzle or (2)premixed sand and cementitious material to which <br /> water is added prior to its expulsion from the nozzle. The use of admixtures shall be subject to the approval of the Engineer <br /> as provided in Section 90, "Portland Cement Concrete." Unless otherwise specified, supplementary cementitious materials <br /> will not be required. The proportion of cementitious material to sand shall be not less than one to 4,unless otherwise directed <br /> by the Engineer. Sand shall be of a grading suitable for the purpose intended. The machines shall be operated and the <br /> coating shall be applied in conformance with standard practice. The coating shall be firmly bonded to the concrete surfaces <br /> on which it is applied. <br /> The fifth paragraph in Section 51-1.18C, "Class 2 Surface Finish (Gun Finish)," of the Standard Specifications is <br /> amended to read: <br /> • When surfaces to be finished are in pedestrian undercrossings, the sand shall be silica sand and the cementitious <br /> material shall be standard white portland cement. <br /> The fourteenth paragraph in Section 51-1.23, "Payment," of the Standard Specifications is amended by deleting "and <br /> injecting epoxy in cracks". <br /> SECTION 52: REINFORCEMENT <br /> Issue Date: June 30,2006 <br /> The first paragraph in Section 52-1.02A,'Bar Reinforcement,"of the Standard Specifications is amended to read: <br /> • Reinforcing bars shall be low-alloy steel deformed bars conforming to the requirements in ASTM Designation: <br /> A 706/A 706M, except that deformed or plain billet-steel bars conforming to the requirements in ASTM Designation: <br /> A 615/A 615M,Grade 280 or 420,may be used as reinforcement in the following 5 categories: <br /> A. Slope and channel paving, <br /> B. Minor structures, <br /> C. Sign and signal foundations(pile and spread footing types), <br /> D. Roadside rest facilities,and <br /> E. Concrete barrier Type 50 and Type 60 series and temporary railing. <br /> The third paragraph in Section 52-1.04,"Inspection,"of the Standard Specifications is amended to read: <br /> • A Certificate of Compliance conforming to the provisions in Section 6-1.07,"Certificates of Compliance," shall also <br /> be furnished for each shipment of epoxy-coated bar reinforcement or wire reinforcement certifying that the coated <br /> reinforcement conforms to the requirements in ASTM Designation: A 775/A 775M or A 884/A 884M respectively, and the <br /> provisions in Section 52-1.02B, 'Epoxy-coated Reinforcement." The Certificate of Compliance shall include all of the <br /> certifications specified in ASTM Designation: A 775/A 775M or A 884/A 884M respectively. <br /> The third paragraph of Section 52-1.06,'Bending,"of the Standard Specifications is amended to read: <br /> • Hooks and bends shall conform to the provisions of the Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete of the <br /> American Concrete Institute. <br /> Section 52-1.07"Placing,"of the Standard Specifications is amended by deleting item C of the third paragraph. <br /> The eleventh paragraph in Section 52-1.07,"Placing,"of the Standard Specifications is amended to read: <br /> Contract No. 1 O-OM7104 <br /> 34 <br />
