Surfaces of bearing and base plates and other metal bearing surfaces that are to come in contact with <br /> preformed fabric pads, elastomeric bearing pads, or mortar shall be flat to within 3 mm tolerance in 305 mm and to within <br /> 5 mm tolerance overall. <br /> Section 55-3.14, "Bolted Connections,"of the Standard Specifications is amended by adding the following after the ninth <br /> paragraph: <br /> • If a torque multiplier is used in conjunction with a calibrated wrench as a method for tightening fastener assemblies <br /> to the required tension, both the multiplier and the wrench shall be calibrated together as a system. The same length input <br /> and output sockets and extensions that will be used in the work shall also be included in the calibration of the system. The <br /> manufacturer's torque multiplication ratio shall be adjusted during calibration of the system,such that when this adjusted ratio <br /> is multiplied by the actual input calibrated wrench reading,the product is a calculated output torque that is within 2 percent of <br /> the true output torque. When this-system is used in the work to perform any installation tension testing, rotational capacity <br /> testing,fastener tightening,or tension verification,it shall be used,intact as calibrated. <br /> The second paragraph of Section 55-3.17, "Welding,"of the Standard Specifications is amended to read: <br /> Contract No. 10-OM7104 <br /> 45 <br />
