SECTION 84: TRAFFIC STRIPES AND PAVEMENT MARKINGS <br /> Issue Date: July 21,2006 <br /> The first paragraph of Section 84-2.02,"Materials,"of the Standard Specifications is amended to read: <br /> • The thermoplastic material shall conform to State Specification PTH-02SPRAY, PTH-02HYDRO or <br /> PTH-02ALKYD. Glass beads to be applied to the surface of the molten thermoplastic material shall conform to the <br /> requirements of State Specification 8010-004(Type II). <br /> The first paragraph of Section 84-3.02,"Materials,"of the Standard Specifications is amended to read: <br /> • Paint for traffic stripes and pavement markings shall conform to the following State Specifications: <br /> State <br /> Paint Type Color Specification No. <br /> Waterborne Traffic Line White,Yellow and PTWB-01 <br /> Black <br /> Acetone-Based White,Yellow and PT-150VOC(A) <br /> Black <br /> Waterborne Traffic Line Blue,Red and Green Federal Specification <br /> for disabled persons' No.TT-P-1952D <br /> parking,and other curb <br /> markings <br /> The fourth paragraph of Section 84-3.02,"Materials,"of the Standard Specifications is amended to read: <br /> • The kind of paint to be used(waterborne or acetone-based)shall be determined by the Contractor based on the time <br /> of year the paint is applied and local air pollution control regulations. <br /> The first paragraph of Section 84-3.05,"Application,"of the Standard Specifications is amended to read: <br /> Traffic stripes and pavement markings shall be applied only on dry surfaces and only during periods of favorable <br /> weather. Painting shall not be performed when the atmospheric temperature is below 5°C when using acetone-based paint or <br /> below 10°C when using water home paint; when freshly painted surfaces may become damaged by rain, fog, or <br /> condensation; nor when it can be anticipated that the atmospheric temperature will drop below the aforementioned 5°C or <br /> 10°C temperatures during the drying period. <br /> The third paragraph of Section 84-3.05,"Application,"of the Standard Specifications is deleted. <br /> The tenth paragraph of Section 84-3.05,"Application,"of the Standard Specifications is amended to read: <br /> • Paint to be applied in 2 coats shall be applied approximately as follows: <br /> Square Meter Coverage <br /> Per Liter <br /> Paint Type First Coat Second Coat <br /> Waterborne Paint 6 6 <br /> Acetone-Based 10 5 <br /> Paint <br /> SECTION 85: PAVEMENT MARKERS <br /> Issue Date: June 30,2006 <br /> The second through fifth paragraphs in Section 85-1.03, "Sampling, Tolerances and Packaging," of the Standard <br /> Specifications are amended to read: <br /> Contract No. 10-OM7104 <br /> 60 <br />
