Woodbridge Irrigation District
Fish Screen Project Description
2007-2008
Description of the Planned Construction of the"V" Screen
The District's project consists of constructing a"V" type fish screen at the entrance of the
District's intake canal on the Mokelumne River, thereby diverting out-migrating juvenile
fish into a fish bypass pipeline at the WID diversion which returns them to the
Mokelumne River downstream and prevents them from entering the District's canal
system. The location of the project is shown in Exhibit "A"-Woodbridge Irrigation
District Lower Mokelumne River Restoration Project.
The "V" Screen Construction and canal lining within the County Right of Way
This portion of the project is within the County right of way adjacent to and east of the
Lower Sacramento Road Bridge in Woodbridge and is scheduled to begin on October 1,
2007 and be completed on May 1, 2008. The District project will involve lining the canal
floor and walls with 2 feet of reinforced concrete and placement of a 1/2 inch expansion
joint between the two structures. No structural changes will be made to the bridge.
Modification of the curb to a kneel down side walk and vehicle gates.
The District also plans to construct an approach on the SE corner of the bridge between
the existing brick pilasters and modify the fence into a double door swinging and locking
gate identical to the County's NE corner gate. The vehicle approach will consisting of
first saw cutting and removing the existing curbing and then following the Type 2
Commercial Driveway Drawing (SJCO Drawing used to construct the NW corner vehicle
approach on original bridge plan) constructing the kneel down curb.
The County Public Works Department would be notified prior to construction and prior
to placement of concrete concrete to inspect compaction and rebar placement. A 5000
PSI concrete mixture and curing agent will be used. This work is anticipated to be
completed December 3 through December 7, 2007. The District will provide signage and
flagmen to protect the public. Side walk areas will be plated during the non-construction
times to protect the public against injury. The Lower Sacramento Road surface including
the bridge lanes will be open and un-obscured to vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
