March 24, 2008
MEMORANDUM
TO: Tom Gau, Chief Deputy Director
Development Services
FROM: Michael Chung, Engineer V MG
Public Services
SUBJECT: (CHAREST CORPORATION) REQUEST FOR A WAIVER OF THE
TRENCHING POLICY ON "B" STREET FOR THE PURPOSE OF
CONNECTING SEWER LINE
This memo is regarding a request from Charest Corporation for a waiver of the San
Joaquin County Department of Public Works trenching policy. Charest Corp. is planning
to install sewer line connection on `B" Street. `B" Street was recently paved, our policy
does not allow for new pavement cuts. In order to mitigate for the trenching, Charest
Corp. will line saw-cut, grind 1-1/2" and resurface the entire roadway from lip of gutter
to lip of gutter and. (ten)10 feet to the north and (ten) 10 feet to the south from the edge of
the trench as indicated on the attached Trench Detail Exhibit .
Pete Martin from Design Engineering, David Mendoza from Field Engineering, and
Tom Okamoto from Traffic Engineering have reviewed the encroachment application and
concur with the work that is planned to be performed in `B" Street.
My recommendation is to allow the applicant to place sewer line as stated above
based on the proposed mitigation to grind 1-1/2" and resurface the recently resurfaced
roadway to conform to the rest of the road. Any disturbed striping is to be replaced as it
was before the work was performed.
Approved b /
PP Y
06?
Attachments:
