BETWEEN LEESBURG PLACE
AND HARRISBURG PLACE. FOR A PARADE
ISE(-;OND SUPERVISORIAL DISTRICT)
Dear Board Members: y
IT IS RECOMMENDED:
That the Board of Supervisors:
". Adopt a Resolution approving temporary closure of Benjamin Holt Drive, between
Leesburg Place and Harrisburg Place, for a parade on the first Saturday of May
and the third Saturday of November.
2. Authorize and direct the Chairman of the Board to sign the Resolution approving
temporary closure of the road on the date and time requested, and authorize the
Director of Public Works to issue encroachment permits for the temporary closure
of the move road in future years.
REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION-
On May 1, 1990, the Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution R-90-592 approving
temporary road closures for the First Annual Lincoln High School Band Parade held on
May 5, 1990. Over the years, approval was granted by the Board for minor date and time
changes. For the last several years, however, the additional road closure in November
has been authorized by Public Works. The Lincoln High School Band Boosters' request
to temporarily close the roadway, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., on the third Saturday of
November, in addition to the first Saturday of May requires additional approval from the
Board. The proposed Resolution is to approve both the event for this November and future year
events. The Department of Public Works has not received any concerns with previous events.
The detour travel route is being accomplished by utilizing Harrisburg Place, Douglas Road, and
Leesburg Place.
