Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, CA 95205
Attn: Scott Cooper
Re: ShellPro (Atkins Road)
Project No. 0890
Dear Scott:
Enclosed please find my application for two driveway approaches on Atkins Road. One of the
driveways is new construction and one is reconstruction of an existing driveway.
I am requesting an exception from the County Design Standards for the south driveway. The return
radius on the south edge of the driveway is proposed as 15 feet. That meets the criteria for a
residential driveway.
Even through this is a commercial driveway, trucks enter this site from the north with a left turn
onto the driveway. They would exit the facility with a right turn (north) onto Atkins Road only. The
trucks that service this facility are prohibited from turning left (south) onto Atkins Road due to the
truck route designation.
Any pedestrian vehicles that may use this driveway approach from the south would be in
conformance with the County Design Standards because of the proposed 15' radius return.
I am requesting the return to be reduced from 25 feet to 15 feet to eliminate the need to relocate an
existing power pole. Even though the power pole is on private property, my client could put
protective bollards if you would like. However, the bollards would be in the County right-of-way.
In these tough economic times, I hope the County can use sound judgement and realize this
driveway is really only commercial in one direction and grant us the design exception. If you have
any questions, please contact me. Thank you.
Sincerely,
'Jo Murphy
_ J /cg
Enc.
