Draft Workplan for Aerially Deposited Lead Testing BCI No. 1399 3
Buena Vista Rancheria Phase I-Off-site Road Improvements August 19,2010
Amador and San Joaquin Counties. California
• Approximate sample locations axe shown on attached Figures 2 through 4.. Final
.locations will be adjusted based on accessibility and utility conflicts in the field..
• Sampling will be performed within 5 feet of the existing edge of pavement in the various
improvement areas
• Three discrete samples(0 to 4"), (6 to 12')and(18 to 24')below ground surface will be
collected from each ADL sample location. Samples will be collected using hand augers
and hand sampling equipment.. If in-place,generally impermeable, moderately
weathered rock is encountered before the maximum sample depth is reached,a sample
will be collected from the material immediately above the rock and the boring will be
terminatred at a depth less than 24" For this case it will be presumed that ADL did not
migrate into the native rock.
• Sampling equipment will be cleaned between each sample location by washing with an
Alconox solution followed by rinsing with potable water and a second rinse using
deionized water.
• ADL soil samples will be transferred into Ziploc resealable plastic bags and
homogenized within the bag. I
• The bags will be labeled, placed in a cooled ice chest, and delivered to a California
certified analytical laboratory under-chain-of-custody documentation
• Borings will be backfilled with excess cuttings.. Wash and rinse water will be discharged
to the ground surface at the sample locations
i
LABORATORY ANALYSIS
• All samples will be tested for total lead(EPA Method 6010B) Samples with the highest
total lead concentration and above 50 ppm total lead will be tested for soluable lead
using the WET procedure and EPA Method 6010E analysis. However, the total number
of samples tested using the WEI'test will not exceed 30%of the total samples collected.
Samples with WET results exceeding 5 0 mg/l will be subject to further testing using
WET-DI and TCLP analysis as appropriate Approximately 10%of the ADL samples
wi.Il be randomly selected for pH testing(EPA Test Method 9045).
• Laboratory quality assurance will consist of method blanks, duplicate samples, and
spiked samples..
REPORT
• BCI will review and analyze the sample data, and prepare a dry report of the test
results. We will submit the draft report to relevant members of the project team.. Once we
receive review co,mrnents,we will finalize the report incorporating the review comments,
and prepare a Final Summary Report.
f
