24 July 2012
AGE-NC Project No. 10-1801
equipped and 8.25-inch hollow stem augers. Prior to well destruction, each well casing will
be sounded with a Solinst water level meter to ensure that no obstructions are present in
the casings. Thereafter, the drill rig hoist will be utilized to remove each monitoring well box
steel ring.
Monitoring wells MW-4A, MW-7A and MW-20A shall be attempted to be destroyed by
connecting a cable to the top of the well casing and removing the entire well casing and
cement seal with the drill rig hoist. Thereafter, the well casing/cement seal void space will
be backfilled utilizing portland type II grout. A ratio of three gallons water for every
50-pound sack of portland cement will be utilized in preparation of the grout mixture. Each
well will be completely backfilled to surface grade with the portland cement grout mixture.
Soil cuttings generated during the popsicle method well abandonment activities will be
containerized in a 10-yard soil bin and temporarily stored at the Flag City Shell site for
future disposal to a Class III landfill (i.e. Forward Landfill).
3.4. WELL DESTRUCTION REPORTING
Following the completion of the proposed scope of work, a well destruction report will be
prepared. The report will include a description of the work performed and will document the
disposal of all well materials, soil cuttings and rinseate. The report will be in a format
acceptable to the SJCEHID and the CVRWQCB guidelines, and will be reviewed and
signed by a California Professional Geologist.
Advanced GeoEnviron mental,Inc.
