THE STATIC WATER LEVEL SHALL BE DRAWN DOWN A MINIMUMOF 1 FOOT BELOW THE BOTTOM OF EXCAVATION TO MAINTAIN THE UNDISTURBED STATE OFNATURAL SOILS AND ALLOW THE PLACEMENT OF ANY FILL TO THE SPECIFIED DENSITY. THEDISPOSAL OF WATER SHALL NOT DAMAGE PROPERTY, CREATE A PUBLIC NUISANCE OR VIOLATE THELAW. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL HAVE ON HAND, PUMPING EQUIPMENT AND MACHINERY IN GOODWORKING CONDITION FOR EMERGENCIES AND SHALL HAVE WORKERS AVAILABLE FOR ITS OPERATION.THE DEWATERING SYSTEM SHALL OPERATE CONTINUOUSLY UNTIL BACKFILL HAS BEEN COMPLETEDTO 1 FOOT ABOVE THE NORMAL STATIC GROUNDWATER LEVEL.3. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTROL SURFACE WATER TO PREVENT ENTRY INTO EXCAVATIONS. ATEACH EXCAVATION, A SUFFICIENT NUMBER OF TEMPORARY OBSERVATION WELLS TO CONTINUOUSLYCHECK THE GROUNDWATER LEVEL SHALL BE PROVIDED.4. SUMPS SHALL BE NO DEEPER THAN 5 FEET AND SHALL BE AT THE LOW POINT OF EXCAVATION.EXCAVATION SHALL BE GRADED TO DRAIN TO THE SUMPS.5.
